Week commencing 22nd April

This week we have used our class text to help us to create some fabulous list poems. As we read through the book the main character repeated the phrase "but something was missing". We thought carefully about what may be missing in the story. We then carried out some fabulous drama work surrounding the story before beginning to write a narrative based on the story. We worked really hard on the beginning of the narrative and will be finishing and proof reading our work on Monday.

In maths we completed our learning on 'Length and Height' and moved on to our next topic on 'Fractions'. We started this topic by identifying a 'part' and a 'whole'. We then looked a 'equal' and 'unequal' parts before beginning to recognise a half.

We completed a very exciting DT project this week, designing, making and evaluating a windmill. We took our windmills outside to test whether they would stand up and whether they turned in the wind. In PE we have started our new topics "ball skills" and "wall and net games". We enjoyed welcoming the chicks into our class, we set up an area in the classroom where the chicks could run around and then took it in turns to hold and stroke the chicks. We then wrote about the lifecycle of the chick. In Georgraphy we learned about the seas and oceans surrounding the UK.
