Week commencing 2nd October

This week we had a shock when we came into school. Something had caused a mess in our shared area. We went to explore what had happened and recorded the different evidence that we found. We came up with lots of great ideas about what may have caused the mess and we were able to think of reasons why we thought this. The children were then able to write a recount of what happened. On Thursday we recieved a letter from the Lonely Beast, explaining that he had made the mess and that he was very sorry. We looked at different features of a letter and then created our very own letter replies back to the Beast. In maths we have been practising counting in 2s,5s,10s and 3s. We then used these counting skills to help us to solve a range of different solve problems.

In RE we talked about what makes a happy classroom. We linked this to our diamond rules and then talked about the importance of rules. We thought of different things that made us happy and enjoyed giving our friends compliments and talking about how the compliments made us feel. In Geography we explored the school grounds, following a simple map and ticking off the different features that we found as we walked. In Science we talked about how we keep our bodies healthy. We looked at the different food groups and how it is important to maintain a healthy, balanced diet.
